Current Event Mini Project (Thanksgiving break)

Current Event Mini Project
Knowing what is going on in your city/town, state, and world is extremely important. Over the break, your assignment is to find 3 current event articles and fill out the Nonfiction Assignment Sheet (3). Throughout class discussion it is evident that a majority of you are not up on current events L
1.     One Article must be a current event relating to Newark
2.    One Article about New Jersey
3.    One International Article
Find articles that you find interesting and “news worthy.”
If you get stuck and can’t find articles, these are just a few websites you can go to for some resources (of course there are many more!)

Extra Credit College Research

Being a junior means many things, HSPA, SATs, and all that good stuff. However, part of the fun is starting to look at colleges/universities. In honor of COLLEGE DAY here at East Side High School, I am offering you the opportunity to earn some extra credit points by researching TWO colleges/universities that you are interested in.  This is what you will do. RESEARCH two colleges and find out specific information about each one. Then, you will post your findings on the blog:
 Criteria:
·         School Name/Location/Population
·         Suggested SAT scores
·         GPA
·         5 Majors that school offers
·         Student Life

English III Block 4

English III

Welcome Back!!

I have created this blog to serve as a form of communication from me to you, but also for you to use to post things to your classmates. I will be posting regularly and therefore some topics I will expect you to comment on for a grade, and other topics will be posted purely for your enjoyment :) So how will this work? In class or through e-mail I will tell you when to check out our blog. If I tell you a comment is necessary then you will need to post your comment and sign your first and last name at the end so I can give you credit for the assignment. If you have anything you want me to post email me at nrubinet@gmail.com. This could be almost anything. Maybe you want to remind your classmates about an event after school or maybe you just want your classmates to read something you have written and want our feedback. I will post your topic either with your name by it or anonymously. Let’s make it a great year!
